I have always been passionate about languages and medicine. Having provided translation services and worked as a language teacher since 1994, in 2002 I took the opportunity to join the staff of a public hospital as an interpreter, thus combining both passions. Concurrently, between 2016 and 2020, I finished my degree in Translation, Interpreting and Applied Languages, and since then I combine my work as a self-employed medical translator with my in-house interpreting job at the hospital.

I also regularly attend translation, interpreting and linguistics conferences as well as medical symposia, thus I am always up-to-date and can ensure to deliver the quality my clients expect from my work.

Last year my mother had a stroke, while on holiday in Spain. Gisela's translation of the hospital report regarding the treatment mum received and the medication used was invaluable when she returned to the UK. Full of technical medical terms, this was a complex and demanding piece of work. I freely admit to not understanding a word of it, but it provided the UK doctors with all the information they needed.
